The start of the semester is always hard. Classes pile up, extra-curriculars pick back up, and somehow you have to manage a social life.

Here are five things I always do to keep my smile up during the semester:

1. Know your support system.

Whether this be a friend group, club, or even just family, having your people right there can do wonders.

2. Try out yoga/meditation.

They keep you calm, cool, collected, and focused. Just like exercising. Don't knock it until you try it.

3. Stay organized.

If you're organized, your days will run so much smoother, and you'll feel a lot better. I personally use a planner that has a monthly and daily calendar that comes with colorful stickers to keep my mood up.

4. Don't overwhelm your schedule.

If you don't have to take that extra class, then don't. There's no reason to put unwarranted pressure on yourself and risk your GPA.

5. Surround yourself with the things you love.

People, food, books, anything you want. If you love it, don't let it go anywhere.
