4 Ways To Keep Your "Hot Girl Summer" Confidence Going Year-Round

If you have any type of social media, chances are you have seen a caption declaring something along the lines of it being a "hot girl summer." For the longest time, I couldn't understand this concept or why every girl was writing about it. What was the root behind this caption? Was it a meme or a song lyric, something that easily passed over my anti-pop culture brain?

As all millennials do to learn something, I turned to Google. What are the origins of hot girl summer? Expecting to learn some surface-level BS, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a seasonal pun based off rapper Megan Thee Stallion's lyric which goes "real hot girl sh-t." Essentially, it motivates both men and women to live their most confident life, to be themselves, enjoy their time and life, and do what makes them happy.

Knowing this I wonder why this attitude is limited to the Summer season? Why is it once we shed the bikinis, trading them for cardigans, and begin the tailgate season we have to go back to our basic captions "hot girl" free? If being a "hot girl" means living your best life, shouldn't that be something we strive to do year-round? Guess what, you can and here are X ways to do it.

1. Accept who you are

If being a hot girl mean being apologetically yourself, then you need to start with accepting who you are. Don't let the title fool you, living a "hot girl" life has nothing to do with physical appearance. It is all about being happy with who you are and accepting where you are in life.

2. Be in the moment

Giphy

This social media trend started during Summer, everyone's favorite time to stock up on Instagram photos. Instead of obsessing over taking the perfect picture and posting it on social media which you will probably caption 'living my best hot girl summer," actually be in the moment and soak up all the experiences.

3. Keep the party going

Giphy

Okay, maybe not a literal party. In fact, I am probably the last person who would "turn up" or be "lit" which Meg mentions is a requirement for a hot girl summer. But that doesn't mean I don't know how to have fun and after all, having fun is the basis of a hot-girl experience. Swap out summer for fall tailgates and have yourself a "hot girl football season."

4. Be a good person

Giphy

Meg said in an interview with E online "Your actions make you a 'hot girl." Positive people attract other positive people and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals puts you on the path for being happy, enjoying your time, and everything you need to have a hot girl experience.

If you haven't listened to "Hot Girl Summer" most likely inspired by the viral hashtag, you're missing out.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
