Obviously, you'll need a kayak for kayaking. Now, there are various types of kayaking – from Inflatable Kayak to Recreational Kayaks. But if you are a beginner, there are some basic stuff you need to know. So if you are a beginner, then you are in luck. In this article, we will talk about some of the things you need to know about Kayaking.

What you need to know about kayaking

So let's get straight to the point and talk about them-

GET A LESSON

First of all, make sure to get yourself a kayaking lesson. Some of you may think- "how hard can it be?" Granted that it's not extremely difficult. But without proper coaching, you may find yourself paddling around in circles. So basically, your time will be wasted. So understand how important it is to get a kayaking lesson.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOAT IS MUST

Now there are many types of kayaks that come in different shapes. Choose the one that suits you particularly. You can choose an Inflatable Kayak, or you can choose a recreational one. You can choose another one if you wish. The bottom line is that choose the right one for you.

For example, you can choose a flatwater boat if you are paddling on a lake. For beginners, Sit-on-top kayaks may not be a bad idea. These kayaks are easy to paddle.

WEAR BUOYANCY AID

For any kayaker(whether an expert or a beginner), It is essential to wear buoyancy aids. They are like life jackets, but buoyancy aids allow more movement around your neck and arms. So for kayaking, they are more suitable. So we will advise you to wear them. Even for a good swimmer, it is essential because you may get into trouble in the water anytime. Usually, kayaking schools provide these buoyancy aids.

SIT PROPERLY

If you sit properly in a kayak, paddling will be so much easier. Even if your kayak have a comfy backrest, you can't slouch. Sit up straight and make sure that your lower back and buttocks are at 90 degrees to each other. On each side of the kayak, there are foot pegs. If you want, you can rest your feet there.

ALWAYS BRING A SPARE SET OF CLOTHES

This is another simple but crucial piece of advice. Needless to say that you will forget about it. You should bring a spare of clothes. You may think-"There is no way in hell I am gonna get wet." Rest assured that most people feel this way and eventually get wet. Having a spare set of clothes will help you a lot in this case.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
