For the past year or so, the life and situation of major entertainment icon Kanye West has been intriguing for me. I find it very interesting how someone like West can be so hated in our society, but so many people still pay attention to him and care about what he has to say. You would think that because so many hate him and his family, no one would bother to listen to his music, or buy his clothes from his fashion line, or even pay attention to him.

A very famous moment at the MTV Awards in 2009

West has said many outlandish comments in his career such as, comparing himself to Jesus, Steve Jobs, and Pablo Picasso. He has gone on countless rants on television shows and radio networks, saying "George Bush doesn't care about black people", and has also discussed how many times wealthy corporations such as Nike has turned him down when he comes up with a fashion idea. Not to mention, he has also disrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV awards by jumping on stage and saying Beyonce should have won best video instead.

Many people will just roll their eyes at his actions and just say some wise comment about it, however, even more will still hear what he has to say and listen to his music and go to his concerts. Why is that? Is it because he has knocked down countess barriers in music, such as discussing subjects such as religion and materialism, where many rappers have not dared to tackle these areas? Is it because he transitioned hip hop from a gangster style rap to a more pop and electronic genre? Or is it just simply because he is so interesting?

You would think because of his egotistical personality, and because he is married to a Kardashian that maybe no one would care about him. But instead, his new album "The Life of Pablo" was still one of the most anticipated albums of 2016. His concerts still always get sold out, and even other celebrities show up to them which you rarely see. Even after his controversial "Famous" video where celebrities such as Bill Cosby and Donald Trump were shown in a bed together as a comment on fame, people still love him.

For me, I've always thought about why people in our society cling on to someone that has said and done so many stupid things. Personally, I think he is a musical genius. Do other people maybe feel the same way? Do people find it socially acceptable for him to have a lyric talking about having sex with someone who isn't his wife? It truly is an intriguing topic. It does not matter what Kanye does the rest of his career, he will still be revered as one of the biggest social icons in history.

The cover where West was named one of the most influential people ever

The topic is quite complicated. A person like Donald Trump is one election away from becoming our president, yet he has made a constant amount of controversial comments. But he is also an intelligent politician, and successful business man. So I guess the trend seems to be that if you've done a lot in life, you can make crazy statements, right? That's up for people to decide, because I have no right to answer that question.

I know that people who read this will think, why are there so many questions in this article? But it is because this is a topic that many people can debate about. As mentioned earlier, I am in no position to tell people how society is run. The only thing I will say is, a person like Kanye will continue to break barriers and go against the grain, and that may be a good thing. But I will leave you with one more question. How far can we allow people like Kanye to go with these antics?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
