We've reached that age where, for better lack of words, shit gets real. We're on our own in college, trying to discover who we are and what we're suppose to be doing. One day, you may feel like you have it all together and your life is finally working out they way that you want it to, until that all changes. There is really no specific reason as to why bad things happen, but what I do know is that they are suppose to happen. It may not seem fair and you probably didn't deserve it, but it happened.

Ladies, if you're feeling lost, time to be found.

You may think that absolutely no one knows exactly what you're going through and this may be true. Everyone has their baggage and things they'd just rather forget. Some more extreme circumstances than others. But how you chose to handle it is the true test of your character. What kind of person are you going to be?

You are in control of your own head and heart. No one can really tell you how to think or feel about something even if they try. My friends are constantly giving me advice and encouragement, though I appreciate their compassion and guidance, they aren't going to change what is going on inside of my head. Sometimes my mind can be in a million different places, you just have to take a step back and evaluate what's really important in life.

It can be overwhelming having to deal with so many different things at once. Having to worry about school and work and your relationships can take over your whole life. With all of this commotion, it can be hard to remember to take care of your own well-being. It is crucial to never lose sight of yourself and your own personal needs. There is so much in this world to appreciate and be grateful for – you can't overthink the small stuff. It's all about the big beautiful picture that is your life.

We all go through things and we learn from them. Everything that we deal with in life is either a blessing or a lesson. I've always found that if you just don't know what to do, that's okay. It's okay because you don't always have to know. Uncertainty is what makes life that much more interesting. The best things happen unexpectedly and I can vouch for that.

As I write this, I am not trying to change or discount what you're feeling. Whatever it is that you might be dealing with at the moment that has you feeling lost, matters. The main piece of advice that I can offer you is to just remember who you are. Remember what makes you, you and one of my favorite quotes that I stumbled upon on Pinterest is, "She remembered who she was and the game was changed" by Lalah Deliah. Never forget who you are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
