Who needs siblings am I right?

Just Only Child Things

Being an only child has it's pros and cons... as does everything in life! But here are a few things that only my fellow only children will understand!

1. Company is a want, but alone time is a need!

We get a little too excited when we have plans with friends, because we see our friends as the siblings we never had! But we will definitely go crazy if our time with company is not balanced out with alone time! There is nothing we love more than Netflix and chill.. by ourselves! (maybe we let the pet in if we are feeling nice)

2. We can't to go anywhere without our parents wanting to know every move.

"Where are you going? Who's house? Should I call their parents?"

"What time are you going? What time are you coming back? Text me when you arrive and when you leave"

And the best part is.. the suffocation never ends no matter how old you are!

3. Constant attention... literally constant!

Our parents never fail to bring us up in the conversation. Whether it's bragging about how we got a check plus on a homework assignment in 2nd grade to what colleges we got accepted to, our parents will never fail to mention us at social events in one way or another! Sometimes constant flattery feels awesome, other times it is just plain embarrassing!

4. We are probably the most creative people in the world

Every single one of my dolls, stuffed animals, or other toys had a story around it, because with all that time by ourselves to play we had nothing better to do than come up with constant scenarios about our toys and our imaginary friends! Because our imagination is so strong, as we get older we channel that into our lives through art, music, writing, or even sports!

5. We always try to prove that we aren't the "typical only child"

Us only children really get a bad wrap... which is why there is no better compliment then "You don't act like an only child at all!" If anyone ever says that to us, we feel that we have made it in life and we can die happy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
