Just because It's November, Doesn't Mean It's Christmas

"October is over! Bring out the Christmas music!" Wait a minute. Hit the brakes people. You’re skipping an entire MONTH. What about November? What about Thanksgiving? Anyone remember Thanksgiving? You know, the day where you stuff your face full of turkey and count your SEVERAL blessings. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks. A time to celebrate your family and friends while eating a delicious meal. Still unsure why Thanksgiving is even a holiday? Here’s a couple of things you can be thankful for this year:

1. You’re reading this article. Which means you have access to a computer.

2. Dishwashers. Just imagine if we had to hand wash everything.

3. You have shoes on your feet and clothes on your back.

4. The Weekend. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Enough said

5. Friendship. Because there really is nothing sweeter.

6. Cookies fresh out of the oven. My mouth is watering at the thought.

7. The warm bed you had to get out of this morning. As hard as it was, it will be there when you get back tonight.

8. Clean water, and the unlimited access to it.

9. Our senses. Because we can hear our friends laughter, smell our Grandmother’s fresh baked bread, and see beautiful paintings.

10. Your favorite book.

11. Heartbreak. And it’s ability to teach us that we’ll be ok on our own.

12. Freedom. The rights we’re so freely given, someone in another country wishes they had.

13. Bad times. Because they make the good times so much better.

14. Google. Where would any of us be without it?

15. For your parents. Wether you’re still close with them or not, they made you who you are today.

16. Puppies and kittens. For no reason other than the fact that they’re really cute.

17. For your siblings. Your very first friends.

18. Beautiful Sunny Days.

19. Lakes, rivers, oceans. Or the pool in your backyard. Whatever body of water that keeps you cool during the summer time.

20. Facetime. It keeps the people even miles away, close to us.

21. Roommates. Because they keep life interesting, and your house a home.

22. Cold, rainy Days. And a warm cup of coffee to go with it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
