You Know That You're A Junior In College When

This year seems tougher than most.

Junior year of college is probably one of the most stressful years of your educational timeline. This year seems to be "make it or break it" and mostly everything is broken. Once you are halfway through junior year all of the following things have either happened or you have thought too seriously about doing them.

1. You question whether or not you should drop out on the daily.

2. The library has become not only a beacon, but a place that, even when you pass by it, gives you PTSD.

3. A five page paper that used to take you a week can now be done in a caffeinated rage the night before it's due.

4. You now stroll into the bar that you used to go to while dressed up on a Wednesday in your pajamas because life is hard.

5. Someone asking you what you did over the weekend and you actually being able to say "nothing" is the light at the end of the tunnel.

6. The career center emails are turning into a painful reminder that you aren't doing anything with your life even though you should be.

7. Your resume is a constant reminder of how little you cared to get involved freshmen year.

8. This leads to a panic which causes you to join anything and everything on campus.

9. It has become a game with you and your roommates to see who's week has been going the worst. Either way everyone loses.

10. The little things that never used to bother you with your roommates are now huge fights. (Who didn't change the toilet paper roll again?)

11. The fights with your roommates have also gotten meaner. It is almost as if your sibling came to college with you.

12. You never really realized how expensive average and everyday things like paper towels and food were until you had to provide for the apartment.

13. You have had to get a terrible part time job because you can't even rub two quarters together.

14. You drink so much coffee that even an IV of coffee would not be enough. Caffeine headaches are a real thing.

15. When you get to go home it is a detox from life. You can totally binge watch 10 episodes of "Lost" and not regret it, right?

16. You have become a master at applying to anything and everything--jobs, internships, and coupon cards.

17. You want time to move slower because when your adviser says that there are only 3 semesters of school left it is almost as if you were Regina George and you just got hit by a bus.

18. You become convinced that your teachers are conspiring against you because that's the only way that you could possibly have 2 papers, a quiz, and a presentation all in the same day.

19. You start to actually imagine what life outside of school is and it sends you into an existential crisis.

20. You don't want it to end because Senior year is even more horrifying.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
