It's addicting, awful for your digestive system, and only benefits you for a few hours until you're spending money on another cup. Coffee is known as the best way to wake up and get moving, but I could not disagree more. Since quitting coffee, I've learned healthier ways to wake up my mind and body, and do not rely on coffee to do this for me. Here are a few of my favorite ways to start my day!
Play Music
Although the sound of loud, happy music may make you want to puke at 8am, you can't deny that it wakes you up! I recommend playing your favorite song, which will likely excite you and motivate you to get out of bed. I've found that listening to music while getting ready speeds up the process and boosts my overall mood.
Exercise
GiphyIt can be difficult to get out of bed, much less complete a full workout before you're even awake. But, exercise can be one of the best ways to energize your mind and prepare you for the day ahead of you. If this idea sounds especially challenging for you, I recommend making plans to work out with a friend or sign up for an early workout class- both of which are difficult to back out of. This method may sound awful, but you'll never regret a workout- no matter how early you had to get up!
Drink ice cold water.
Ice cold water in the morning is a much healthier and quicker version of coffee. The extreme temperature "wakes up" your body while hydrating you as well. Accompanying cold water with a big, healthy breakfast can give you the energy you need to survive an 8am lecture!
