John Mulaney / Netflix

John Mulaney is a stand-up comedian. He's worked and appeared on "Saturday Night Live" and has two comedy specials on Netflix: "New in Town" and "The Comeback Kid!" Currently, he is on tour for his new stand up show entitled "Kid Gorgeous." Recently, I was lucky enough to be able to attend one of his shows for this new tour and see his work in person!

Before John Mulaney appeared to start his show, another comedian, Max Silvestri went on first. Silvestri has appeared on the shows "Brooklyn 99" and "The Good Place." Similar to Mulaney, a lot of his jokes centered around his childhood, his relationship, and his disconnect from other super-masculine men. One of my favorite jokes he told included his girlfriend and her girl-trip to a cabin. I don't want to spoil it, but it had the audience cracking up. He was a great opener to the show and did a good job of warming up the audience for Mulaney.

After watching him on Netflix and online multiple times, it was impossible not to feel the excitement once Mulaney finally walked on stage. Dressed in his usual suit, the crowd burst into cheers the moment he appeared. He started the night off with a bang, talking about Seattle (where the show was taking place) and going into a bit about asking his mom about whether she'd ever seen a ghost. My cheeks were hurting so hard from laughing!

Having never seen Mulaney before in person, I only had his Netflix specials to compare this show to, but from what I saw, I'd say that this one some of his best work. There weren't many moments of silence — the entire audience was laughing almost the whole time. Not only was the show hilarious and his jokes relatable, the entire thing flowed really well. The jokes connected hilariously and smoothly, never once feeling awkward or abrupt. Mulaney's talent showed through clearly throughout.

Mulaney ended on a high note, telling a hilarious (albeit familiar) joke about his religion that left the audience chuckling and walking out of the theater with smiles. I'm thrilled to have been able to experience this comedic genius live and am hoping this tour will eventually be made into a Netflix special so I can relive the hilarity. If you have a chance to attend one of his stops during this show, I'd definitely suggest you do!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
