In case you have been living under a rock the past couple weeks, “A Quiet Place” came to theaters on April 6, 2018, and changed my life.
This new horror flick is about a family living all by themselves in a small town that has been killed by a blind monster that kills anything that makes noise. I would say I’m pretty indifferent to most horror movies, I’m not the person that has to see every single one, but I will watch and enjoy them with my friends.
This film I had to see.
It has almost no dialogue. I knew it was going to be a groundbreaking horror film.
I did enjoy the film, I wouldn’t say it’s that scary though. Since most of it is so silent, a lot of the scares are just enhanced jump scares because you’re on edge every time a noise is made.
Story wise, it’s incredible. The film does an amazing job keeping the audience engaged, entertained and on the edge of their seats. They do well having conflicts that are still suspenseful, even though most of the conflict is really “oh no, a noise!”
I will say, I was very engaged in the story the entire film. The stakes were so high, I really cared for this poor family, I went through all the emotions of sadness and terror with them. That is the sign of an amazing story, feeling what the characters are feeling.
It may not please the real horror movies fans that are looking to be terrified, but it is a fantastic film that I do recommend that everyone sees.
The thing that impressed me the most about it was that it starred, was directed and co-written by John Krasinski, who you may know as…
Yes, “A Quiet Place” a horror movie, that some people have called a groundbreaking horror film, was co-written, directed by, and stars Jim Halpert.
That is amazing.
This man can do it all.
He is everything a screenwriting major wants to be: versatile. He is great with all genres. Comedy and horror are the two opposite sides of the spectrum for film genres (or at least I think so). John Krasinski can perfectly write and act in both.
I have loved him ever since I first saw him on “The Office.” We all loved him, laughed with him, had our hearts broken by Pam with him and now we are being taken to a quiet place with him and we still love him.
Go you, John Krasinski. You are my new hero.
