A hot Sunday evening on August 24th, the members of the Sigma Nu and Zeta Tau Alpha invited the public to attend “Jocks and Locks- The Fundrazor!” located at the Sigma Nu fraternity house.

This family-friendly event, which showcased a few of the University of Alabama’s best football players, raised over $17,000 dollars for the Austin Shepherd Foundation, Children's Hospital of Alabama and The Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation.

Will Kenon, philanthropy chairman for the Sigma Nu fraternity, had nothing but positive things to say about Sundays event, “Despite the intense heat and humidity, ‘Jocks for Locks’ was a complete success,” said Kenon. “We couldn’t be happier with how the event turned out.”

The fundraiser featured five football players who were willing to cut, shave and trim in order to help fight the cause. The players were asked to put them themselves up for auction and have bidders in the audience rally for the opportunity to be their personal hair consultants for their opening day haircuts. The key players taking part in the event were Austin Shepherd, Jacob Coker and David Daminco.

After the bidding took place, patients from the Children’s Hospital as well as the winning bidders conferred with local men’s hair stylist from Sportsclips to come up with a winning look for their favorite Crimson Tide player. While the crowd enjoyed watching the football players undergo their hairstyle transformations, attendees enjoyed the music of SAUCE, as well as and food and drinks from Bob’s Victory Grille and a snow cone machine to help cool down the crowd.

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
