Should Jake Paul Really Be The Voice For Gun Reform?

Personally, I think that giving these students the platform to talk and to express how they think things should change is a great thing.

This past week in YouTube news, Jake Paul visited Parkland, Florida to talk with Marjory Stoneman Douglas students and talk about school safety. Overall, it was a lot of him sitting and listening to what the students had to say.

Later, he was called out for ignoring the complaints about gun control changes. Paul stated everything that needed to change (including his thoughts on gun control), not just the protection tactics and precautions.

Paul initially touched on the topics of having checkpoints at school entrances and bulletproof shields in backpacks, just to name a few. He also donated $25,000 to Parkland and took a brief leave from YouTube to educate himself about the uproar over gun control.

The number one thing that people are concerned about is whether he's the right mouthpiece for this topic. He's posted videos of himself and his friends with guns and explosives, he has a gun thigh tattoo, and he has a reputation for carelessness in his neighborhood. A lot of people think that he's jumping on the gun control bandwagon to gain more views and to mend his less-than-stellar reputation.

Personally, I think that giving these students the platform to talk and to express how they think things should change is a great thing. On the other hand, I feel like there could've been plenty of other people who would've been a better choice for this movement.

He executed his analyzation of the topic well and he gained more than just one side of perspectives, but this topic is just too serious for Jake Paul. Sure, his audience is very impressionable. Sure, seeing his video could be a wake-up call, but he's nowhere near the right advocate for these kids.

He lacks credibility (not as much as his brother, Logan, but he lacks it, nonetheless). He's surrounded by bad press. He disrupts the peace in his neighborhood, causes God-awful viral drama within his friend group, and even released diss-tracks about other content creators for no reason.

He has a longer list than that, but I'll just stick to those few.

I'm glad that he's given a voice to the leaders of the gun control revolution, no matter his stance or his reputation. He donated money to their school and will continue to back them until their fight is over (if it ever ends).

Paul has owned up to his errors many times before, but this time, he's started to take a step in a more mature direction.

I'm not totally convinced that he's doing it for a kosher reason, but he's not hurting anyone helping the students who need to be heard. He's touching the ground where many people have yet to place their feet, and that's admirable. I just hope that he doesn't screw this up for anyone. These kids don't deserve it, especially after the chaos they survived.

So Jake... Please push all your view-revenue aside and stick to what really matters. You've started a wave of outreach to your audience. So please, don't let anyone down.

Don't be your brother.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
