Let me start off by saying this article may eventually end up dragging Jake Paul's name into the muck but I'm just giving off the facts from bystander's view. I got my laptop and a turkey sandwich and I'm ready to dive into the world of the Jake Paul fandom and failures. Fan's feathers may be ruffled but if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen, right? Or in Jake Paul's case go ahead and play with the fire.
When you first Google the Jake Paul name the first results voice he is "the world's worst person" and a "reality villain for the YouTube Generation" Ouch, the people who can actually put together legible paragraphs on this kid have clearly chosen their stance.
So who is Jake Paul? I turn to YouTube for the answer. A video posted by himself comes up titled "THIS IS JAKE PAUL" comes up. Apparently, he's a personality originating from Ohio and works with Disney (now formerly as learned from headlines). I Google his age and Google kindly tells me he is a year old. Wow, I don't know how someone let him have a camera then.
A montage ensues of his "dangerous stunts" including the infamous acts of lighting things on fire while someone narrates, "we've done a lot of dumb things", that monster-truck sort of thing where you drive over little junk cars, letting a kangaroo in a house, and what appears to be him taking a bath in cereal.
Eventually, he was led to create Team 10, which was in his words a "Social media label". The website states, "TEAM 10 IS A SQUAD OF YOUNG LIKE MINDED INDIVIDUALS WHO TEAMED UP TOGETHER TO TAKE OVER HOLLYWOOD" I try to see if there is more information but whoever designed this site is clearly just trying to force-feed the merch. No, I'm not interested in a camouflage backpack that is over $50.
Back to the headlines, I have found an article from Forbes that better makes sense of things in this "label". Paul says, "It’s really an incubator for social media talent. We take people who have a lot of potentials and teach them how to make content, produce it, etc. Then we move them into the house and we all collaborate. We’ve taken people with 5,000 followers and they’ve literally had millions of followers in a month." That actually sounds smart, why do people hate him?
Time to dive into the news. I found a news video on his dispute with his neighbors that appears to be trending. Apparently, his neighbors are not happy with his stunts and the constant fan appearances in the neighborhood. The newscaster is desperate to talk to Jake Paul as he runs down the street with his "crew" and starts climbing on top of the news van. Eventually, they get him to settle down and ask him a few questions. The interviewer asks about how he feels about the neighbor's situation, and Paul responds, "I feel bad for them for sure. There's nothing we can do though. The Jake Paulers are the strongest. Dab," and then turns the interview around with the dabbing gesture to start discussing the interviewers taste in shoes. Poor interviewer.
I look at the other headlines. "Jake Paul Shoves Fellow YouTuber Tessa Brooks in New Video Clip" and "Jake Paul under fire for racist remarks towards fan, the internet reacts" look colorful. Oh, my god, there is a music video called "It's everyday Bro," Oh it's bad. That needs an entirely different article it's so bad.
I think I've had enough at this point. There are diss tracks that look entertaining but I think my soul has cringed enough.
Well, to recap, Jake Paul appears to be a young media influencer who may have let fame go a little to his head. " I just dropped some new march and it's selling like a God church," Really, Jake? Will he be the next generation Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears when she had the breakdown? Or could this all be a mastermind plot from Paul to get media attention and get the fans to buy his merchandise? How will the neighbors deal with Jake's behavior if it continues? Will more couches be set on fire? So many questions but I guess only time will tell for Jake Paul.
