To All People Who Do Or Don't Wear Makeup

Stop shaming people for their way of expressing themselves, or even of something that’s an enjoyment of thiers.

If you know me personally, you know I love wearing makeup and I could spend all my money on products from Sephora or Ulta (yes, it's an addiction). I love collecting makeup, I love makeup videos and I love wearing makeup. As we all know, things that bring us happiness, society has a way of destroying it. Recently, a lot of people have been talking about makeup shaming.

Makeup shaming is making people feel bad about wearing or enjoying makeup. People say to me all the time, why do you wear makeup, you don’t need it, you look fine with/without it or a lot of women and men (yes, they can wear makeup too) are told that “natural beauty” is better and that they shouldn’t lie to society and that they are beautiful without it, blah blah blah. In today’s society, people are judged for doing something or not. If you wear “too much makeup” you’re vain or insecure, and if you don’t wear makeup you don’t care about your appearance, or not trendy. People have been critiqued for trying too hard, or not trying hard enough, especially women.

I remember when I first started wearing makeup in high school, the only product I used was mascara, I was too scared to wear anything else because I didn’t want people to judge me for wearing “too much”, but then slowly I grew a fond of makeup and enjoyed it a lot and learned new things and started wearing more and more, and I somehow I realized that it should be something personal to your identity and no one should put me down for it. Of course, it’s hard on some days because there will always be those comments that get to you but if you want to wear a bold lip color, do it! If you want to wear eyelashes every day, or only to certain events or never, you go do it! It's okay to wear makeup.

I think that doing your makeup is an art, it’s a way many people express themselves and create their own individuality. Of course, inner beauty is most important, but what people need to understand is that wearing makeup is okay and not wearing makeup is okay too and someone should not be judged for it. What a lot of people should also understand is that makeup users don’t wear makeup for anyone else but themselves. There are many reasons why someone wears makeup. I wear makeup because I want to! People wear makeup because they feel confident doing it and that shouldn’t be shameful. People wear makeup because it’s fun, because it’s an art (applying makeup isn’t easy, it takes practice), and simply because they can! If you do wear makeup, you shouldn’t be judged for it and if you don’t that’s okay too.

Stop shaming people for their way of expressing themselves, or even of something that’s an enjoyment of thiers. Makeup shaming is hateful. Everyone is beautiful, makeup or no makeup, but let’s learn to not put someone down for something they love.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
