Businesses across the country are once again opening up their doors now that restrictions are lifting or beginning to lift. Many people are going back to work, which is good but it has most likely not been everyone's "normal" for a long time. Isolation and quarantine have changed our ideas of what the day to day is. Just because things are slowly making their way back to how they were before the Coronavirus shut things down, does not mean that you have to jump in to your routine from months ago. If you are feeling unmotivated, that's okay. If you are feeling the most productive you have felt in a while, that's okay too.
This is for anyone that is feeling unmotivated during all the changes going on worldwide. It's okay to feel what you need to feel. On that note, if this feeling goes on for several days you may need to find the root cause of why you are feeling the way you do. Don't blame it on the virus or how fast or slow things are changing. Narrow it down to one or two set reasons. This can be anything like stress, lack of structure, or being overwhelmed. Once you find a reason for your lack of motivation, try and find one thing that makes you feel motivated. Slowly add another reason every once and a while until you are productive again. Until then, feel your feels. Everything is changing at different paces, it's hard and exhausting to keep up with each new update. If you feel the need to stay in bed all day, then stay in bed. If you want to watch a new show for a day, do that. If you want to make a new routine, then do it. Make a new meal, go for a run if you want (and if you can do it safely), clean your whole house. Ignoring somethings for one day is probably going to be okay, so if you need a break to get some motivation back, then take one. In this fast paced world, slowing down is not something that is awful. Especially when the world has slowed down as well.
Being unmotivated through this confusing time is normal. It's hard to keep up with what you can and cannot do. Being unmotivated for any reason, virus or not, is normal too. Things are never going to stop changing and moving around. In a world where everything is fast paced and you are expected to keep up with it, overwhelm and burn out come with feeling unmotivated. That's okay. You do not have to give 100% all the time. You can have days where you don't do anything at all and days where you try and do everything. It's balance, and sometimes the scale tips too far to one side. Find your balance. Know that you will be unmotivated at times and know that you will crush your goals too.
