To people who know exactly what they want to do and where they want to go to college, congratulations! I'm so happy that you have exactly what you want to do for the rest of your life down packed and ready to go.
However, for some of us, it isn't so easy. Sometimes it takes more than one major to figure it out, sometimes it takes more than one degree, and sometimes it takes multiple jobs to help us get there. However, that is 100% okay.
Sometimes people have passions but really can't link them to a job that they can live comfortably with, and that's okay. You will get there. It might take a few degrees to find something you're really interested and fascinated in. Sometimes, you have to take a few jobs to find what you really want to do. But it's okay because all of this is a learning experience.
I know you may be thinking, what kind of learning experience is this? But trust me, it is. Personally, I started out with teaching. I thought that was 100% what I wanted to do. However, I realized that it wasn't the best job in the world for me. Do I still want to work with kids? Yes, I did realize that is my passion. It's just taking me a little longer to get to where I want to be and that is totally okay.
I'm sure it is the same for a lot of people out there. You might not even be sure who or what you would like to work for. You might not be certain what major or degree you would like to go for next. Just remember, it's okay and as cliche as it sounds, never give up.
I know it's easier to give up than to keep going, but it's worth it. You will meet amazing people along the way, you will take on new jobs and possibly one of those people you meet or jobs you have might help you realize your passion.
Some people know their passion from the minute they are born and others spend what feels like an eternity searching for it. However, one thing for sure is that you will get there one way or another. You will become successful (in your own terms) and you will live a good life from all the people you have met through jobs and experience.
Just know that it's okay that you haven't found your passion yet, and you might not find it for a long time. I'm pretty sure you will know the minute you find it. But in the meantime, there are some ways to keep looking while life keeps you busy.
Try to create and combine things. I'm sure you've all read "The Little Engine That Could" at one point in your childhood. Remember how the little engine kept trying and he got to the top of the mountain? That will be you someday. So keep trying things, don't give up on school or work and it will get you somewhere, I promise.
