"Life is not a sprint, it's a marathon." So often we find ourselves racing through life as if we are sprinting. We don't take the time to just stop for a moment and realize what we have. We often find ourselves saying "I want this, or I wish I had that." Most days we aren't grateful for what we have. Instead of realizing we are blessed, we are always stressed about something.

Life is indeed a race. But sometimes I think we get confused on how to run the race. We think that sprinting is the way to win, and I'm here to tell you it's not. Do you remember the story, "The Tortoise and the Hare?" Well, do you remember who won that race? The tortoise. You see, life's not all about who gets to where they are going first or accomplishes something first. Actually, the people who often get what they want without having to even work for it end up finding out something is missing. Life's challenges are how we learn, how we grow, and how we earn a sense of reward and accomplishment.

We should live our lives in a way where we take the time to stop and notice all the wonderful things and people we have. Because when it comes down to it, the more you have isn't what matters, it's being grateful for what you have that matters most.

Life is the longest thing there is so what it the point to sprint when we can run a marathon and enjoy life. Life is meant to be a marathon. There will be times where we feel on top of the world. And there will be other times where we feel like we are running up a never ending hill and that we won't ever reach the top. But you see that is how we should look at things. Life is not always going to be great, we are going to have those obstacles but that is why it's a marathon.

Hebrews 12:1 says.... "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

You see God already has our own race marked out for us. He knows every detail of our life and so we must not doubt his plan.

So I challenge you, the next time you are sprinting through life, just take a step back, take a breath and realize that life is a marathon. Embrace the good times and learn from the hard times because those are the things that will allow you to grow in life.

God didn't put us on this earth to live this perfect and easy life. He never said that it would be easy! However He did say "Never will I leave you or forsake you." -Hebrews 13:5. It's inevitable that we are going to have trials in life. But how we learn to deal with those trials is the real test. Do we find ways to avoid them and sprint through the trials, or do we take the challenge of running a marathon and work through the trials? The choice is yours. What will it be?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
