As a writer, I completely understand why Taylor Swift's songs are what they are. Her music is her outlet just like how writing is mine.
Taylor has always related to her fans. From a teenage girl's first breakup to their first day of high school and everything in-between, Taylor has always been there to make things just a little easier. She has always written a song that helped me through scenarios that I never thought could be related to. But Taylor has always been there to prove me wrong on that one.
So when her new albums come out and they are completely different than the last, it is only fair for us, as her fanbase, to support her. Her latest album has caused so much controversy over the choices she has made and the changes she has been facing. Because let's be real here, none of her fans can relate to the recent dilemmas she has experienced simply because none of us are famous. This is the first time her fans haven't been able to relate to an album which makes for controversy.
It is not easy being Taylor Swift right now. She is receiving hate for every move she makes. Imagine being this perfect pop star whose songs and innocent facade are supposed to stay perfect and innocent even after being publicly humiliated and criticized. You think it's hard dealing with the "mean girls" of your high school or even just your everyday routine, but Taylor's "mean girls" are Kanye West and Katy Perry; successful, public icons that can tear you down in a matter of 3 minutes.
So what does it matter if her new music has changed? Her every move is watched and critiqued. Every decision she makes is watched and critiqued. Every song she writes is listened to and critiqued. She is living a life in which every single person on the planet has something to say. And most of the time, it is not something nice.
So how about we all do our job as fans, and stick up for her and support her during the hard times. As for the haters, you all can keep on hate, hate, hate, hate, hating while Taylor tries her best to shake off all of the negative publicity. We all know she will because after all, her music is her outlet and I think we are all ready for her kickass album to be released. There is no reason to focus on Taylor just to spread hate. The world has enough hate in it already and it can do without the disapproval from people that have nothing better to do with their time. Taylor Swift is actually incredibly strong to be able to deal with all of this criticism and not lash out. In fact, making an album out of the people that cause her the most pain is quite brilliant. Because after all she is making millions of dollars off of the anti-Taylor promoters. So, as Taylor would say, haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.
