It's Never Too Early To Play Christmas Music

Before the remnants of the Thanksgiving table have been cleared away, the Christmas season makes its presence known with a ferocity. Lights and miniature figures of Santa appear out of thin air by the next morning with a renewed craving for hot chocolate and a desire to sit in front of a fireplace while watching snowfall through an icy window, as if from some movie. The Christmas spirit is alive and well starting Black Friday, and will only increase with the passing days.

Yet, there are still the complaints from shoppers that Christmas music is played too early. To those people, I must ask: what is so wrong with trying to enjoy the festivities by humming along to the overplayed and familiar tunes while in the mall? I, personally, want to absorb and enjoy every last minute of the holiday season while I can.

Perhaps I'm biased. I'm the type of person who will be nostalgic for the chilled air and atmosphere that comes with Christmas, even if its the middle of August. Nothing brings back the warm feeling of the holiday quite like listening to Carol of the Bells by Pentatonix on repeat.

After Thanksgiving is over and people have started the majority of their Christmas shopping, the festive music should be socially acceptable. It's never too early in the year to listen to Christmas music, in my opinion.

With the music comes the soothing feeling that is innately Christmas. I mean the feeling that comes with sipping hot chocolate with mini marshmallows, wearing knitted scarves, and sitting in a heated room while a blizzard rages outside. I mean the feeling of wearing ugly Christmas sweaters and laughing at how horrible they are until your face turns as red as holly berries.

How can it possibly be too early to play Christmas music when it is associated with so many nostalgic and sweet things? The music hearkens to so many good feelings throughout the wonderful year. Christmas is synonymous with spending time with family and breaks from school work. Christmas music brings in the good memories of good times with loved ones, and why would I not want to reminisce?

Christmas only comes once a year, so I'm going to enjoy the music and take in as much of the season as I can. While I continue to eat candy canes and drink hot chocolate, then I will play my Christmas music as loud as I want to for as long as I want to. It's December, Thanksgiving is over, and it's Christmas season.

So prepare for the music and don't be a Scrooge when you hear the best selection of holiday music. It's never too early to play Christmas music.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
