The South's Fall Weather Is Alright, But It’s Good To Be Home
I'm Boston

Everybody looks forward to their long weekend in October most commonly known as fall break.

Things went a little off course this year. With the recent hurricane that took place, our lovely fall break was canceled this year. Who knew they could cancel fall break? Is that even legal?

With that said, I bought my plane tickets to go “home” back in July. I moved to Hilton Head about a year ago and grew up in Massachusetts. So my going “home” this year was a little different for me. If someone asks me where I’m from, I say Massachusetts, even though I live in Hilton Head now. Where I was born and raised in my home with me and it will always be.

So going from 83 to 55 degree weather was a big change for me. But it was the best change and felt like home as soon as I got off that plane.

Fall in the south is extremely different from fall in the north. We got to visit my favorite places when I went home and it honestly made me want to cry. Being back home brought back so many memories and I absolutely loved every second of it. I got to see all of my family members I’m extremely close with and haven’t seen in almost a year.

Coming back to Charleston from being in the cold weather for five days was definitely a change. Here in Charleston, we have days where it’s 61 in the morning and 75 in the afternoon. It’s the type of weather where you wear a sweater in the morning and quickly regret it in the afternoon and change into shorts. Getting away for those five days made it really nice to be home.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
