I hate going on social media sites nowadays.

I really do.

Every time I go on I see something again about women being treated horribly by men in the world and no one ever fixes these atrocities. I always see articles about how college kids have raped their women peers and go on trial and then go home scot-free, still beloved by their family and the public eye.

For example, the most recent high-scale case of the man named Brock Turner. He raped a girl while she was unconscious on his college campus at one of the infamous fraternity parties these crimes occur in frequently. Brock Turner, was given just a few months in prison – six whole months – after raping this poor girl. Eventually, he ended up being released in his third month due to “good behavior”. This is despicable and happens every day to innocent women all around the world. Men are always set free after they commit their horrible and traumatizing acts of violating women’s rights and bodies.

I always see people on social media sites saying, “Oh, they were drunk”, “Oh, it was a one-time thing”, “Oh, they have a 4.0 GPA at their university, how could they rape someone?” All of these comments are just people proving their ignorance towards rape culture that is still alive in the world.

It is 2017.... 2017.

I imagine that women back in the '50s or perhaps even a few decades earlier, who had experienced being rape (or something of that sort) would believe that by 2017 we would have this under control and the law would be on the women’s side. I bet those poor women thought that justice would finally do something right in the conviction of rapists, that women would no longer have to fear men raping them and getting away with it.

And we let them down.

Those women who might have thought 2017 would be a time of safety for all and justice for the guilty and wrong were let down by society and how we keep letting horrible rapists go free. Women in 2017 still face fear and possible death over men’s sexual desire to control their bodies and have their way.

Women are still not free in the world. Not in America, not in Europe, not even in the middle of nowhere. Women are still targets and they are still victims of people who get a slap on the wrist for their deeds.

This makes us women fear to have daughters of our own in the world if others won’t teach their sons the right thing to do. Men haven’t been listening or have not been correctly taught to not rape people and clearly society has not been taught how to properly deal with people who are guilty of such crimes.

This needs to change now.

Don’t just shrug off those articles you see about more women being raped and more rapists being set free. Do something about it. Get your justice and show people how to do the right thing and how to make the world a better place so that women in 2017 who believe that by the year 2050 women will finally be treated right and rapists will be convicted properly are not let down.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
