It's hard for me to sleep every night, my hands and feet get numb. When I close my eyes it's hard for me to breathe. The thought of death scares me knowing it can happen any second. I realized this after you left many of us. Umer your smile, your personality left a place in many close ones along with many recent friends. You were a gem of a person one of a kind. They say, God only chooses to call the good people so early. Who knew you would leave us too soon. I remember each and every detail as it terrifies me still till this day. Words cannot express the devastating news. I wish I could go back in time and only if I had known if you had just told me the truth I would've tried to help you. After that night I did not hear back from you until the next morning when I got a call which took the world from under my feet. It took me a second to figure out what happened because it was a moment of denial. I remember rushing to the hospital seeing you in pain unable to speak, unable to see and just being rushed to the ICU. The hallway filled with people trying to call around for blood donations. Hours passed, and just waiting in that hallway was a nightmare itself. My friends who had just met you days before showed up along with many others heart you stole. It was all starting to feel unreal. Waiting to hear the good news that you will be okay and come back out on your feet smiling. But who knew you would give up on us. Staying by your side every second of each hour that passed praying for your soul to come back. The hallway was now filled with countless people just waiting to see you again waiting to see you fight. You were one hell of a strong champ to fight through it for so long. We all believed you would be okay hoping someone's prayer would be heard. I came to visit you and you seemed to give me some hope but who knew the moment I left I would receive a text an hour later telling me that you were gone. You just left us, all we are left with are pictures and memories with you. You were such an amazing son, brother, and friend not only to me but to countless people. I know you are in a good and better place. I just wish you were still hear it was too soon.....

Homecoming and Kicks for Cancer are two of our huge athletic events that occur every year, and the whole town comes out to support our football and soccer teams. If you don’t go to at least one of these events, are you really even from Hauppauge?

We have two diners in Hauppauge, where it is not unlikely you may find some teenagers hanging out there until 3 in the morning, sipping on some milkshakes, or downing some fries. The diners are a very popular place to be after any school concerts or theater productions run by the school districts.

Smith Haven mall is pretty much the only mall anyone from Hauppauge goes to. Sure, we have Bay Shore mall and Walt Whitman mall not too far from us, but Smith Haven mall is right around the corner. One real perk of living in Hauppauge is the 20-minute or less drive to almost any beach on Long Island (excluding the Hamptons). We have Robert Moses beach on the South Shore and Sunken Meadow beach on the North Shore. Whether you are in the mood for a busy beach day or a quiet day at the Long Island Sound, it is not hard to find the right spot. Since we are in the middle of the island, getting to the beach is something to really look forward to.

Well, it has officially been nicknamed “Restaurant Row.” After that 2:15 dismissal at the high school, you’ll be able to find tons of students hiking across the soccer fields with determination to get their fill of Wendy’s, McDonald’s, or Panera Bread. There is also Starbucks, Burger King, and our own Branchinelli’s Pizza… which is a whole other level of amazing pizza.

Honestly, Hauppauge is really just that town that cars pass through while trying to get to bigger towns. Veterans Highway drives right through the middle of us and you usually just end up in Smithtown or Commack. Those two towns are more well-known for being bigger and having higher populations.

Sledding at the high school is a winter tradition for all of us.
