You are so stressed out during the semester that your body needs to take some time to be sick, which forces you to lie in bed all day to rest. Instead of hanging out with your friends and staying up all night watching Netflix, your body is telling you to stay in bed, watch Netflix, and fall asleep at 9:00. Sometimes, you just need to take time to be sick because you are always on the go and stressed about missing class or getting sick. As a college student, there is no better time to be ill than over a break.
1. You lose weight (if that is one of your fitness goals).
Breaks are usually a time to pig out and eat until your heart is content, but not when you are sick. It is hard to eat while in this state because your diet mostly consists of soup and tea. I am happy with where I am in regards to my weight, but losing a little bit is nice for everybody now and then. While this method is not a recommended way to lose weight, you can at least skip the gym for a week until you either gain your weight back or are fully recovered.
2. You are forced to relax.
You have been working hard and deserve a break. You may think it will be a stressful break because you're trying to get healthy before going back to school, but it is nice that you can spend your break lying in bed and nobody will tell you to do otherwise. Take this time for a lot R&R, and you should be 75% ready to go back to school by the time it starts again.
3. You won't spend any
(or as much) money.
I feel like spending increases during breaks whether it be dinner with old friends or a shopping spree with your mom. Needless to say, you don't spend nearly as much as you would have had you not been glued to your bed those few days.
4. You can catch up on your favorite shows while feeling guilt-free.
I always feel a little guilty for bingeing my favorite shows during breaks. For me during my times off school, I like to chill with my family and dogs. Being sick is a great excuse not to feel bad about not spending time with anybody.
5. You don't have people coming into your room to tell you to do or see something.
Nobody is barging into your room to inform you of a task you need to complete or to invite you along on a ten-minute road trip. While these are things you enjoy, it is lovely being in solitude for the time being with minimal disturbances.
6. You just might get food served to you in bed if you ask and are sick enough.
You are sick, and nobody wants to get it. Therefore, there could be an excellent chance the food for which you ask will come to you depending on how sick you are and if you feel like eating. Just be careful, and don't spill hot tea on yourself.
