With the failed attempts at repealing Obamacare, Trump has now taken matters into his own hands to try and dismantle the current system.
A series of policy adoptions and initiatives have seen the current President of the United States try to compensate for his shortcomings, by attempting to eliminate portions of the Affordable Care Act wherever there are provisions and subsidies available. The signing of the executive order marks the start of that very attempt to destabilize the landscape of the ACA and its capabilities, but a deeper look at the provisions is necessary before any sort of rash remark about the order can be made. Yes, despite the person in question, rushing to a judgment is sinking to the levels of those being criticized, although it may just be humanly impossible to sink to the levels of low integrity that Donald Trump seems to successfully exhibit daily.
A closer look at the executive order reveals a lack of actual policy changes or legal provisions. Instead, it displays a requirement to three different federal agencies to attempt to create legislation that would produce health care availability. This would also benefit larger, more corporate providers of health insurance and create a much larger hassle for those who are in charge of small businesses. The removal of subsidies to insurance providers opens up opportunities for large corporations to create more variable offers to the people. However, this heavily harms those who obtain health care through small programs, as the lack of subsidies limits the types of programs that can be made.
The inhibition based on the incentive also creates a problematic precedent for how the battle for health care may play out. Such an idea sets the scene for a gradual breakdown of health care in the United States without a tangible alternative, which puts a large vulnerable population in dire need of health care at risk. Such a disregard of the practical and material effects of the turbulent policies just encapsulates the ivory tower stance of the current administration. It provides an indicator to the detachment of the administration from the remainder of the American public.
Despite the details being apparent, we ought to be wary of the development in politics all around us.
