With the failure of the passing of the American Health Care Act proposed by Paul Ryan under the Trump administration, the finger pointing now begins.

What happened?

The AHCA has failed to pass in Congress, placing Trump in the position where he has thoroughly failed to follow through on the promises that he presented to the public. This places a distinguishable tarnish on the dominant and extremely influential image of a winner, which he painted to gain massive amounts of public support in his path to and during his presidency. For the “foreseeable future,” as stated by Paul Ryan, the United States remains with Obamacare and its provisions, something that Donald Trump was adamant about resisting. This blow not only creates a drastic divide in Congress, but also further drives a wedge between those with specific political allegiances.

This failure marks a big political divide in the current administration, as the ideological inconsistencies of Trump creates a very visible lack of commitment to the proposal by Paul Ryan. The lack of defined political allegiances to Donald Trump may be appealing to the general public, but it creates a highly variable and troublesome circumstance for his administration. They must still adapt to said variability in order to uphold their image as well as generate policies to appease him, which does not tend to be all that difficult, granted anything would appease Trump so long as it has a gold-plated name of his on it.

Paul Ryan is perceived as receiving the brunt of the blame. This precedent was set after the plan was presented, gradually shifting the responsibility over to Paul Ryan, whilst maintaining the guise of safety in the case that the policy does go through so that the presidential administration can still maintain support of the policies that are passed. However, now that the policy has failed to do so, a large portion of the blame and responsibility is being shifted onto the shoulders of Paul Ryan in order to reduce the liability that the Trump administration has to shoulder for this travesty of a policy.

What does this show?

Such dodging of responsibility isn’t foreign for the current presidency, as the PR department for the Donald has their work cut out for them day after day. After all, defending tweets made by the current President of the United States do tend to make a Public Relations representative’s job a lot harder. However, this creates extremely poor political cohesion, as the fragments of the three branches generated by the two parties’ volatility towards each other, have exacerbated notably by the current President of the United States. But, there is still larger damage waiting to occur in the horizon.

This type of inconsistency is now made blatantly visible by the United States, as the lack of cohesion within the Republican party only creates more distrust in the current political majority. Taking only the current political atmosphere into account, it could be safe to say that a large majority of the American population would prefer an alternative political representation for the United States than the one they are currently living through and experiencing. Not only that, but this means that policies would be less and less probable to gain traction in an efficient manner, leading to political standstills, as well as less and less support for the policies being administered. Potential excess of abuse toward executive orders may also be in the horizon.

The blame game for the AHCA begins and it does not look good for the future of the Republican party.

Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
