A girl sitting across the table from her boyfriend at a coffee shop, leans in a little closer to listen more intently to what he has to say.
Everything about him seemed to fascinate her, as if he was the air she needed to breathe. I could tell by the way she looked at him that she loved him. The boy sitting across from her looked at her with passion in his eyes, but something about it wasn’t the same. He was all she needed in life, but she was just enough for him.
Enough. A word that means “to a moderate degree” or “fairly”. A word that is used by people to describe how they feel about something in their life. To me, enough is stopping halfway through a climb because of the fear of not making it to the top. It is taking the first job we are offered because what if another offer never comes. Enough is sitting in a coffee shop falling head over heals for a guy who is just looking for someone to need them. We are young, we don’t have life as figured out as we think we do, and we are scared. When we get scared, we become enough.
No one deserves to be enough. No one should find themselves sitting in a coffee shop allowing themselves to be enough. You deserve to be the reason someone wakes up in the morning, the air they need to breathe, and the hope they hold onto. Someone should look at you as if the entire universe is hiding behind your eyes rather than just a single star. You deserve to reach the top of your climb and admire the view. To take the dream job you have always wanted because you weren’t too scared to believe in yourself. You deserve to sit in a coffee shop with the guy of your dreams and know that you are his world just as much as he is yours.
Someday, someone will see that you are so much more than enough.
