Hurricane Irma, after passing through the Caribbean's, has yet to die down; the hurricane is set to approach the most Southern tip of Florida by Saturday morning. Irma, a Category 5 storm with 180-mph winds has left destruction behind it as it passed Puerto Rico and progressed towards the Dominican Republic and Haiti. At least 8 people have already died as a result of this storm, and at this point, it is unknown whether or not the storm will maintain it's strength as it progresses through Florida.
Results of hurricane Irma in the Caribbean:
One thing is for sure, Florida Governor Rick Scott is not taking this storm lightly. He has already announced mass evacuation plans, potentially leading to one of the largest mass evacuations in US history. Grocery stores have already begun running low on necessities, such as packaged water and flashlights, and gas prices have started to surge.
Hurricane Irma drains resources in Florida:
After seeing the devastating results of Harvey: homes being destroyed, lives being lost, and unemployment rates skyrocketing, levels of anxiety have increased as the Irma storm system approaches the United States. Hopefully, since the images of the horrific damage Harvey left behind are still fresh in the minds of Americans, Floridians and all who may be effected by Irma will take caution and follow all storm procedures.
