I updated to IOS 11 yesterday, and let me tell you: I am here for it. A lot of the new features are neat and innovative, yeah, but one stands out to me. You can record your screen now. Beware, if you're doing anything unsavory, someone will probably find out. This has one major use: Snapchat.
Before, you could screenshot people's snaps, but they would get a notification. Yeah, there were apps to get around it, but they required so much more effort for such little payoff. I know, I know, not everyone is quite as shifty as I am. Screen recording may not sound that exciting to you, but I am thrilled.
Now, you can swipe up to get to your control center before you open the snap, then just hit the screen record button. There's a heckin' button. And there's honestly nothing that anyone can do to stop you from catching their snaps. No one even has to know that you're being shady. No notification is sent or anything.
Snapchat is a pretty sneaky app regardless of what you use it for. The pictures you send disappear immediately, so it seems like a pretty secure app. Fortunately for us, Snapchat introduced some features that made up for the "security".
Enter: Best friends. You definitely remember these days. You could simply tap on someone's name, and see who they were snapping the most. Your boyfriend had another girl as his best friend on Snapchat? Caught. The guy you like has all girls as his top three? Caught. I think they finally realized how much turbulence that was causing, and they got rid of it. Not to worry, though, because they added something that's arguably just as good.
Enter: Snap map. You can totally opt out of this, because it's honestly kind of creepy. You can access the Snap map by using a "zoom out" gesture on the camera screen. What comes up is a map of where you are, with your friends' bitmojis scattered around. You can literally see where your friends are and who they're with. Obviously, if you opted out, your bitmoji won't show up, but you can still see everyone else's. Snapchat even groups people together if they're close enough to one another, that way you can see who's together. Like I said, creepy, but it's a perfect feature for shady individuals like myself.
That said, the screen recording thing is going to be a huge controversy, I assume. Long story short, be way more careful about what you're sending to others on snapchat, and just in general.
