Interviews are stressful for anyone in anything. If you fail then all that hard work goes down the drain in an instant. This isn't a for-sure guide of passing any interview but rather they are steps for you that, in my opinion, can help you prepare the war that is an interview.
1. Relax.
Yes, it's easier said than done especially when it's a really important interview in your life but you still need to relax. If you get too stressed out you won't be able to sound professional and calm when answering questions. That'll make you look unprepared and scared. You need to look poised and ready. So relax and don't be stiff. Interviewers have just as much as a hard time as an interviewee.
2. Dress professionally but do not go overboard.
Yes, dressing up is a key factor but don't overdo it. A polo shirt with a tie and maybe add in a vest. After that wear a blazer that complements your dress pants. For ladies is the same thing but without the tie. You could add your own dress shorts. Another factor is finding out what colors the company likes using. You may gain a favor for the interviewers.
3. Research, Research, Research!
It's important to know what you're up against. So before doing an interview spend a few days researching the company that you're applying for. Some questions they ask will do something with the company. For example 'what can you bring to (insert company)?' or 'tell me why do you want to join (company)?' If your answer manages to find something that the company needs and you can provide it. Then, in most cases, you'll gain an advantage over the others applying. Answer questions confidently and professionally.
4. Tell your weakness!
It's good to be confident but sometimes being too confident can rub an interviewer the wrong way. Instead humble yourself and tell them your weakness. However as you describe your faults explain how you manage to overcome that obstacle. It shows that you're willing to try and overcome those weaknesses rather than use them as excuses.
5. Be yourself.
Not the bad side of you but don't put a mask over your face. Remain truthful to the questions you're told. Honesty is hard to find in a person and companies might like it when you remain true to yourself and not lie to succeed. Who knows they might even start you off in some important assignment because you remain truthful.
Interviews are essential into getting in any type of company. The job of the interviewee is the show that they are capable of being in the environment. It's also a test of how you handle being in stressful and demanding situations. So be prepared for anything they throw at you.
