People can be cruel –– gnawing with fangs and claws at easy targets, digging away at a person until he or she becomes broken. We see it all the time –– in real physical encounters and in the virtual realm of the internet. We hear about children being bullied at the playground, cancer survivors being tormented on social media, mentally disabled being ridiculed, and so much more. It's nothing new, but it's nonetheless wrong and should not be commonplace. When this vicious behavior is routine, it snowballs into the bigger catastrophes of our world. In order to even attempt to rectify our tumbling morales, we need to start on the small scale.
As Ellen recently said in her acceptance speech for a humanitarian award, "I want everyone to know that we all really, really love one another. Deep down we all love one another, and we need to get back to that." We do love each other at the core because we are all human.
We have an innate attachment to everyone in the human race because we are made of the same dust, the same stars, the same compassion. And although sometimes it seems easier to to just care about ourselves, here are 13 quotes to inspire us to implement kindness; to reroute us back onto a global path of altruistic endeavors. In the end, we will all benefit.
