10 Things Every Other Personality Type Should Know About INFJs

No, we aren't sad if you see us alone.

According to the Myer Briggs Personality Type Indicator test, INFJ is the rarest personality type in the world (1% of the entire population). INFJ stands for Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging.

This is important because I am part of that <1%. I feel as though many people do not understand my personality. So, if you know an INFJ and don't really understand them, maybe this will help you figure out who they really are. More than anything, it might help you figure out your own personality type as well.

1. INFJs love being around people, but not for long periods of time.

We are introverted-extroverts. We love to be around people and have fun, but not for long periods of time. Without our alone time, we find it very hard to function in our day to day lives.

2. INFJs really don't mind being by themselves.

Before you even ask, we are not sad if we are by ourselves. We just don't feel like we need to always be with our friends. Being alone sometimes can provide peace and is a great way for us to recharge our social batteries. So, if we tell you we don't want to hang out, don't take it personally.

3. INFJs have this weird intuitional sense where we can feel if something around us isn't right.

In my personal experience, this has been so important in choosing the friends I want to have or the boys I like. If something about you doesn't seem right, odds are our friendship/relationship won't last very long.

4. INFJs internalize their feelings, so you will never really know what's going on in their lives.

We are very, very secretive and don't like to ask for help when we need it. We like to think we can do it all by ourselves when in reality, we can't. This can cause a lot of stress and anxiety for us, even though you don't see the symptoms. (AKA we are very good at hiding our problems).

5. INFJs have very, very high expectations for themselves, and sometimes even for those around them.

Even though I HATE this word, we are "perfectionists." We like for things to go exactly according to our plan. If we don't, we feel we are out of control and can sometimes begin to spiral down the rabbit hole.

6. INFJs live their lives according to their morals and values, and usually will not compromise them.

This kind of goes along with the friends thing. We know what we stand for and what we believe in, and we won't let anyone try to alter or change that.

7. INFJs will always be there for those who need a shoulder to cry on.

We are very empathetic people and great listeners. We will try out absolute best to make you feel better. We are very kind and compassionate people and always willing to help out when someone is in need.

8. INFJs hate conflict and criticism.

I'm sure everyone hates being criticized, but for us, it is especially hard. Even if it's criticism intended to be constructive and with good intentions; we internalize the comment to the point where we think something is wrong with us. (Spoiler Alert: nothing is wrong)

9. INFJs seek deep relationships with others.

We love to have deep and personal conversations with others. Small-talk is not a word in our vocabulary because we feel there is no meaning behind it.

10. INFJs hope to be able to motivate and inspire others to be the best they can be.

We want those around us to feel they are the best people they can be. We believe there is a little bit of good in everyone, and we want everyone around us to be happy and living life to the fullest.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
