For Marvel fans May 4, 2018 isn’t just a day; it’s an event. It is on this day that the (second) newest and most anticipated Marvel movie will be released, “Avengers: Infinity War.” This movie will bring all of Marvels characters together, such as Doctor Strange, Black Panther, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and MANY more as they fight off Thanos in his fight for world domination.
This movie is going to be killer (literally) and the trailer alone reached 230 million views. I remember running down the hall in my pjs to watch it with my friend. In 20 seconds I was up, out of bed, and awake because I was so excited to finally see it.
Before May 4th there’s a lot of preparation for super-fans and causal fans alike.
What better way to prepare for the event other than watching the first trailer? The opening scene with the Avengers each saying a portion of Nick Fury’s famous monologue, “There was an idea..” It is such a chilling way to open the trailer. It’s something most fans will recognize from past movies and having some of there favorite characters say the lines shows how the story has almost come full circle. Of course there is also watching closely and finding your favorite avengers hidden amongst the crowd or taking in the beauty of it all. I totally get how some people don’t watch movie trailers so they can walk in surprised but I don’t have that type of restraint.
When not doing homework or studying, my friends and I are talking Infinity War theories. Things like who we think is going to die, where the last Infinity Stone is hidden, how all of our scattered heroes will come together, and how the hell will they defeat Thanos? All of which are important questions and talking about it all just makes me more excited… and nervous.
My friend and I started rewatching all the movies in order from the very beginning. So far it’s been really interesting in seeing the heroes beginnings and I feel like it will really prepare us for when the new movie(s) come out. I definitely needed the refresher course and it provides a nice break from all the homework. We have cut out a movie or so (sorry "Hulk"- I can't stand those movies). It’s so difficult to keep watching in order when we both have favorites in the later phases of the movies.
Of course we have to make a May 4th game plan. Three months out and were already making a plan. Hell yeah we are going to a midnight premier if there is a showing nearby. Will I take the next day off from work? It’s likely. Will I cry? Definitely. Here I will wait desperately wanting to preorder tickets….
I think its standard procedure to drink a lot of water because chances are I will cry my weight in water. And you don’t want to get dehydrated! Also tissues are a must. You don’t want to have to use your sleeve or Bridget’s (I’m kidding…).
With only a few months left between now and Infinity War its time to get prepping for the big day. I’ll be there, crying into my popcorn.
