Imagine yourself being stuck on UFO in this complete other galaxy being haunted by dark witches with dubstep playing behind you. That imagery, that feeling is what Indigo Child's "Dark Sector" sounds like. It literally plays out like a story in your ears and that's what makes it so unique, it's not your stereotypical electronic music EP.

"Dark Sector" is the latest EP from Indianapolis producer, Indigo Child. He's quite known for creating very spiritual tracks that connect with the inner darkness, a risky but successful endeavor. There is no doubt about it that Indigo Child harnesses real talent and "Dark Sector" proves just that.

The opening track and my personal favorite, "Inevitable," sets the stage for our dark dubstep adventure. It opens with this really funky sort of groovy beat on the edge of white noise, you know, what the aliens are listening too as they abduct you.

Next up is the actual title track, "Dark Sector." This leads us back to that imagery of us being stuck on that UFO; but now your ears and third eye are thinking, "maybe I'm haunting myself?" Like I said, Indigo Child likes to tinker with our spiritual darkness.

"Clouded," the third track, rides the line of visionary. it really plays its role in the theme that this EP presents. I imagine this piece as filled with more fear rather than darkness. Throughout the track you hear sounds that are reminiscent of footsteps, chains, breathing; it really does feel like you are trapped in some kind of UFO dungeon.

The final track on the EP, I think pretty much wraps up the piece as a whole, it gives "Dark Sector," this sort of ending of empowerment. It's a little bit different than the previous three, the fourth track delivers a stronger energy. I think that with each track, they dive a little bit in a darker realm.

What I think is really important about this EP is that it offers this very distinct but also arguable theme that is it's own entity. Throughout the tracks there is this feeling of fear and being haunted, we really hear it on "Clouded." It is progressive at some points, it's visionary, it's even a little funky. As a whole, it has all these layers that are working together to create this esoteric EP. But what really separates "Dark Sector" from EPs of similar calibers is this emotion that paints a story to our ears through just four tracks.

To be a storyteller is one thing, to be a musician is another. But to do them both at the same time? That is a pure gift of talent and hard work, which Indigo Child delivers fearlessly with "Dark Sector."

"Dark Sector" releases September 12, with ThazDope Records.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
