The Indie Christmas playlist you didn't know you needed

Because sometimes you need something fresh after listening to the same three Christmas songs on the radio.

The Indie Christmas playlist you didn't know you needed

1. Blue Christmas / The Lumineers

This is one of my favorite covers in general, but there's nothing as comforting as the indie-folk bliss from The Lumineers, especially around Christmastime. Their acoustic twist to this classic Elvis song is the equivalent to a warm mug of hot chocolate by the fire.

2. White Christmas / George Ezra

George Ezra's voice is already like a warm hug, but this song feels like a warm hug on Christmas morning. Ezra's voice paired with blues' tones makes for a cozy cover that you'll snap along with all the way until Christmas.

3. Let It Snow / She & Him

This iconic duo brought us one of the loveliest Christmas albums to date. Deschanel's vocals bring this soft, jazzy cover to life.

4. I'll Be Home For Christmas / Kacey Musgraves and Lana Del Rey

The harmonies in this cover are enough to bring world peace for the holidays.

5. Wonderful Christmastime / The Shins

The Shins bring us the peppy, British-Invasion energy that Paul McCartney gave us all those years ago. This upbeat classic will surely get you in the holiday spirit.

6. Christmas Wrapping / Johnny Utah

John Utah's bright vocals will liven up your Christmas and make you feel like a kid all over again.

7. White Winter Hymnal / Fleet Foxes

It would be a crime not to include this Winter-time classic in an indie Christmas playlist. Fleet Foxes' layered harmonies give us a cozy tune to hum along to this Christmas.

11. Alone on Christmas Day / Phoenix, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Paul Shaffer, & Buster Poindexter

Bill Murray teaming up with indie icon Phoenix is like a Christmas gift with all our names on it.

8. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas / Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Bridgers's dreamy cover of this Christmas favorite gives us all the snow day feels.

9. Santa Baby / Wolf Alice

Wolf Alice's alternative twist to this Christmas classic will have us singing along to every word.

10. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) / The Lumineers

We'll end this playlist the same way we started it, with the calming rhythms of The Lumineers.

(Bonus!) Winter Wonderland / Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra

This one's technically not from an indie artist but who doesn't love a jazzy Jeff Goldblum?

Have a safe and wonderful Christmas season!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
