Being independent is something that a lot of people are not taught to be when they are little. Independence is something that is not automatically given, it is something that you learn to be. Yes, sometimes being too independent can be a problem for someone. When you are not allowing yourself to accept help that is when your are not allowing yourself to trust. There have been plenty of times where I have had to learn the true meaning of independence which is "the fact or state of being independent." But what does that really mean to someone? Independence is being able to handle going somewhere without the fear of messing up. Independence is being able to go to the grocery store without your parents telling you what to get. It does sound very scary, trust me I know, but the more you become independent, the more you can self-govern yourself. Meaning, in any life situation you can think for yourself and for others.
As Fourth of July is coming up have people forgot the true meaning of July 4th? Where the United States adapted the true meaning of independence, The Declaration of Independence. The day the United States were no longer apart of the British Empire, yay..history.. But what did that really mean for us? Not just fireworks, BBQ s and family reunions but it meant that we could finally follow our own rules, walk our walk together as one.
As we think about being independent, we do not think about rules, laws and regulations. We think about what we can do for ourselves, and how we think on our own. The strength in one, to have independence within itself is something so beautifully crafted that it can never be taken away after been given. As the United States fought for our independence, we also have to fight to be and to stay independent. It is okay to learn, and make mistakes. We would not be human if we did not but in the process we can continue to learn from our mistakes to gain the independence we know we have in us deep down, because independence is truly a wonderful thing.
