Beholden.
Fixed.
An unbreakable bond,
No matter the time or distance –
Or even the forces that try to pull it apart,
No match for the force that keeps it together –
But only has meaning when both know its pull,
And can appreciate the wonders at its work as a result:
One can't be enough to make the bond all that satisfying –
At least just one that's in the know about its wonders.
You may not know about this bond,
About what you did for me then –
The help you didn't know you gave with little to no effort –
But I feel it every day.
There's no escaping it.
Yet somehow the forces are going against us in driving us apart
Before the air can be cleared between us,
Of what you have meant to me.
While that love I felt for you then had been diluted with time and distance,
There is still a tug at my heart
With every little thought I have of you in passing.
I just hope that you sometimes think of me too –
From time to time.
Beholden,
Fixed in our history
Forever indebted.
