I've never been much of a fan of movies. I'm bad at watching them, which may prompt you to ask, "how can you be bad at movies?" Basically, I'm bad at surprises so there are two options to watching a movie with me. Either I look up the movie before hand so I know the plot, or I don't look it up, but I will nervously chatter throughout the movie. Long story short, I know I'm a mess, but I can't help it.
Aaaaaanyway, over break, my dad and I went to go see Bohemian Rhapsody with Rami Malek, and IT. WAS. AMAZING. I was worried when I saw the movie was solidly over two hours, and, obviously, it was too new to have a plot online. I had read a biography about Freddie Mercury over the summer, so I knew what to expect, but I was still a bit anxious.
Two and a half amazing hours later, I was floored. The movie was absolutely phenomenal. It was supposed to be focused around the entire band, but, as was to be expected, the focus was shifted a bit more towards Freddie. I don't generally cry during movies, but I was moved to tears multiple times throughout the movie as the band and Freddie hit the ups and downs of life.
Being the lover of dad music that I am, I was thrilled to listen to Queen for over two hours, and, since seeing the movie, I've been listening to non-stop Queen. I regret nothing. Even if you don't listen to their music, I would 12/10 recommend this movie because it's not just about the music.
Queen was like a family. They had their ups and downs, arguments with each other, massive successes together, and so much more. At one point or another, you find a moment that you relate to because, despite being international super stars, they were also human beings. There are times when they feel alone or forsaken, and there are times when they feel like they're on top of the world.
It's due to come out to buy soon, and most theatres are still showing it due to its critical acclaim and award success. If you have some extra time to spare and want to spend that time watching an AMAZING movie, Bohemian Rhapsody is my VERY professional recommendation.
