Do you have a passion for something? Is there any one single thing in this world that can save you from everything else in your life? When you are upset or sad or anxious, what do you turn to in order to escape? A passion is something that everyone needs to have in life; everyone needs that one thing that is always there for them when they need it. Whether it’s a talent or skill, a hobby, a place, or person, finding your passion can help you face the most difficult moments with ease.

When life is not going the way that I want, I turn to the world of fiction to lift my spirits; I turn to television shows, books, movies-- any form of make-believe that has been fabricated inside the mind of someone else. I become a part of the fictional world that I am reading about or watching, and I am able to forget my own problems. I become a part of different universes; worlds where superheroes always defeat the villains, worlds where the boy and girl always end up together in the end. I join a world where adventure and thrill are always waiting, and these worlds save me from my own.

What is your passion? If you have something that automatically brings a smile to your face, or if you have something that you are willing to cry tears over, then you are lucky enough to have found your passion. Maybe you have a musical ability that not everyone else has, or the ability to draw masterpieces. Maybe you can write stories that captivate the minds of every reader, or can make interesting vlogs about your daily life. Perhaps your passion isn’t a skill or hobby; your passion could be your family. Being with your family might make you forget all your stress and worries! Maybe you have a passion that you aren’t the best at; you are allowed to write stories for the sake of writing, and you are allowed to make drawings and paintings that aren’t as appreciated as the Mona Lisa. The point is not to master the passion or craft that you have chosen; the point is to take complete advantage of the joy that your passion brings you.

Have you not found your passion yet? That’s okay! It takes lifetimes for some people to find things that they truly enjoy, and it’s okay if you still haven’t found such an activity for yourself. If you want to find a passion for yourself, you are going to have to explore and try new things. You won’t find out that poetry is your passion until you try writing. You won’t know that you love theater until you try it, and you won’t know that traveling is your favorite way to spend your time until you get out and explore the world. There are so many activities and experiences waiting for you; you just have to take the time to experiment around with them.

I have a passion for storytelling; analyzing fictional characters and alternate universes is my way of escaping my world for a little while. What is your passion? What is the one thing that you wish you could do all the time? If you have found a passion or even more than one passion, congratulations on finding something that makes you

happy. If you are still in search of your passion, don’t give up until you find something that makes you happy to be alive. Never judge someone for their passion, because that passion might be what saves them from the world.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
