I guess you could say my New Years Resolution, so far, is to remain organized to my best ability.

I found myself stumbling into my dorm room yesterday with luggage in hand, ready to completely re-organize everything.

I started with my clothes, perfectly folding everything and throwing about 10 pairs of shorts, along with countless tank tops, into a storage bin. As the temperature has been generally in the negatives for about two months, I figured it was time.

While rumbling through my desk area, I realized just how much I had spent on coffee this past semester.

The countless Starbucks receipts jumped out at me while opening my drawer, reminding me of the thousands of study sessions last semester. Wow. After recycling those receipts, and with about four hours of organizing, everything started to fall into its perfect little place.

I buy a planner every single year.

I truly do enjoy being organized, yet I always get to the third month and life gets in the way, distancing me completely from the planner.

My tasks always get completed, and I do still make it to every meeting, yet I have been on the look for something in order to further improve my productivity.

I have always been the type of person to disregard sleep until I complete every assignment perfectly, yet this past semester left me wondering if I could add a few hours of sleep to my insomniac schedule while maintaining the productive nature I currently abide by. This leads me into Staples for the planner, and into the four hours of tidying up my workspace.

I recycled my past folders and notebooks, grabbed new ones, and completely renovated my desk area with only new materials and decorations to push for a fresh start.

It’s 2018, it’s a new semester, and one of my favorite things to do is start new.

I love the feeling of having a fresh timeline, fresh calendar, and a new year where I can build upon the last, yet make it even more fulfilling.

Due to this, I grabbed my planner and began doing something I love most—writing.

For a moment I told myself my lifeline would become my planner. Then, I quickly remembered the factor of coffee, which has always been the true lifeline. Although, this time, there will be NO need to keep all of the receipts. No need for any extra reminders of my absolute favorite way to treat myself.

As my room is completely organized, I am ready for this new semester.

As I’m currently on my way to Starbucks, best believe I’m bringing my planner, ready to write while sipping my coffee. Maybe there are a couple of things I love doing most.

In the meantime, lets start on the path to tidiness together, and I’ll make sure to follow up on the planner situation. I’m feeling pretty good about it, so stay tuned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
