The next few weeks and months in the political world are highly crucial to the future of a country that is otherwise on the the brink of domestic collapse and international conflict. As a country the United States has had trouble in recent years grappling with the idea of another war. No, this article does not support troops on the ground in any form in any war anytime soon but the recent launch of 59 Tomahawk missiles from a US destroyer onto a Syrian air base changes the tone of international conversation.
Right now, this time of change in a Presidency that is still in its infancy, is crucial. On the one hand there are many that perhaps might attest that this administration has gone to the offensive to quickly. However, know that no matter what side of the aisle you stand with politically the time for change and a strong stance against the genocidal dictator in Syria is necessary.
The pictures were horrifying. Dead children, toddlers, babies. I could barely move myself to see the second picture in a slideshow published by the Associated Press of the aftermath of the the horrifying chemical attack that the Syrian government launched on its own people. Nerve gas, a horrible and painful way to die was the end for many who barely even knew how the sun would feel pressed on their skin that day.
The time has come. As a penchant for good and power the US was compelled to act. One thing is clear. This country is not ready for another war. We are not ready to send or fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters into a land so merciless. However, the need for US action is imminent. It is almost necessary due to the standard we hold in the world arena.
