Our lives are not only instruments in God's hands, but looking glasses in others. We long to see each other's faults and imperfections, but what happens when there is a lack of vulnerability? What happens when we only see other people's perfections? They no longer look like the lives through which God flows. To be completely honest, when seeing people's lives who look good on paper, we no longer see the grace of God.
The thing about imperfections is that they are beautiful. And despite what this world says, they are the tools through which we reach others. Imperfections become fashioned in God's perfection. Imperfection holds the most power when it comes to reaching the lost. Just as Christ was imperfect, so are we.
Matthew 5:48: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
The truth is that Jesus spoke these very words in the New Testament. But what we see is how He cried in the garden of Gethsemane. We see how Jesus wept when the people did not believe Him. We see Christ display His imperfections openly. When Christ said these words in Matthew, He means for us to be perfected by grace, as He was perfected by grace. Remember grace through faith. Grace is the empowerment of righteous living. It is the ingredient that leads to the perfection of Christ.
So today sons and daughters. Live imperfectly, show others that you are imperfect and allow the perfect grace of God to cover those imperfections. Our lives are only effective tools of salvation when we constantly show that we need saving. Let God do the saving and allow your imperfections to amplify Christ perfect death on the cross.
