*Disclaimer* I’m not some crazy feminist that thinks women are better than men, but I do think we are absolutely equal to men.

The fact that I even had to put that “disclaimer” is a perfect example of the oppression of women. Even the word “feminist” has a negative connotation and an immense amount of stigma surrounding it. We can’t even believe in having our own rights without someone being so quick to judge and assume that we’re some radical feminist that thinks all men deserve to rot in hell.

This clearly is not the solution to the problem, it’s just creating more. Sure, we’ve come a long way for women’s rights in the past hundred years, but there’s still so much more to be done. Ladies, we need to band together especially because of the state our country is in with a misogynistic cheeto as our president. With him, this isn’t even just about the rights of women, but basically, anyone who isn’t a white cisgendered male.

I’m not saying we have to dismantle the patriarchy overnight, what I’m getting at is, girls need to be nicer to girls. I think this will both make us stronger and terrify people who think women are the lesser of the genders. Something as simple as telling a stranger that you love her shirt is enough to make her day and show that not everyone is evil.

It’s gotten to the point where girls don’t even know how to take compliments anymore because they’re afraid there’s a hidden meaning behind them, like when Regina George said she liked that girl’s plaid skirt. If girls acted the way they do when they’re drunk in the bathroom at a bar all the time, then we’d get a lot more accomplished. (I don’t mean the throwing up in the garbage can obviously, I mean the “omg you have a piece of toilet paper stuck on your shoe, do you want to be best friends?”)

I am a firm believer in ~*GRL PWR*~.

I think that if we could all get along and stop slut-shaming and hating girls because they said hi to our boyfriend one time then we’d be able to work together towards, I don’t know, equal pay for equal work regardless of gender or sexual orientation or whatever other discriminatory bologna is going on today. If we take all the energy we use hating each other, and work together toward equality, then we could get so much accomplished.

All it takes is a small step, so get out there and give someone a compliment so we can starting working together toward the rights we deserve.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
