I'm A Man And Yes, My Mom Is My Rock

They say you can judge a man by the way he treats his mother. The bond between a mother and a son is incomparable in every way imaginable.

I'm A Man And Yes, My Mom Is My Rock

Sons are supposed to be closest with their dads and daughters are supposed to be closet with their mothers. Isn't that what the general consensus is? All boys like blue and all girls like pink. It's just the cold, hard truth, right?

The cold, hard truth is that we are all judged for something at least several times in our lives whether that something is big or small. As men, we are typically judged for showing any general emotion at all since it can be a sign of weakness. Aren't women the ones who are supposed to show unlimited emotions? Here is a news flash. We are all human.

We all have an undying care for someone or something in this world. A cardinal rule of undying care is family. Family should always come before anything else no matter what.

I was raised in a single parent home, but I was and am fortunate enough to have an incredible mom who has the ability to protect me and encourage me to take risks all at the same time. Ever since I was a kid, she has had the most outstanding work ethic I have ever seen. She not only works constantly to keep a roof over our heads between six jobs, but will also help me fight for what I deserve out of life.

Typically, the dad is the working parent in nature and the mom is the nurturer. Yes, my mom is a nurturer, but because her body of work is so strong, she is the one I trust the most with any advice that I need from friendships or relationships, the best ways to keep myself organized, and to dumb jokes I can tell my friends to get a conversation going. I trust her the most because she has been through the most and because she trusts me.

Most importantly, she trusts my judgment.

I am very fortunate to have been raised a passionate, driven, dedicated, and hard-working individual. However, because she does it on a daily basis, I was also raised to have a heart-of-gold. I have a constant desire to want to help everyone I can because it has so far, come back to help out my family and myself in one way or another.

I am proud to call my mother my standard bearer because I only hope to become as emotionally invested as her.

Heck, all mothers are the most emotionally invested people there are. Even if you sometimes think that your mom is too overprotective and at times, nagging on you just a bit too much, just remember that you're her pride and joy. You are her way of giving back to the community. You are who she is shaping through personal experiences of herself, to be a positive contributor to your community.

If something bad ever happened to you, your mom wouldn't know what to do with herself. So, I encourage all of you to never take your mom's love for you for granted. Call her or go to her with any advice you need because the intuition is almost never wrong.

Personally, I'm thankful to have my mom in my life because she is my security, counselor, inspiration, motivator, and provider. Without her in my life guiding me, I may never have overcome my own struggles or have confidence in myself in anything. I'm proud to say that I am a man, and my mom is my rock.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
