I’m Afraid To Share My Views Because No One Knows How to Listen To Each Other Anymore

No matter where I go, I have to be the silent one. I'm not allowed to share my views because then people will look at you and treat you differently.

I'm 20 years old and terrified to say how I truly feel. Why? Because no one listens!

Everyone assumes they are right and anyone who disagrees is automatically wrong.

You watch a certain news station, you're racist.

You support a certain politician, you're racist.

It can't certainly be because you simply have different ways of looking at something. Noooo, it can't be that. It must mean you're racist and ignorant….

People throw around the words "racist," "ignorant," or "misogynistic" and you identify you as those things. It's mind blowing to me!

The thing is, I'm not ashamed of what my views are, because I feel strongly about them. I'm just scared to voice them because I see the backlash people get in this country for believing certain things.

Has anyone ever thought maybe their views are wrong or that they are basing their views off of false information? It's okay to be wrong sometimes!

Have they ever thought for one second that maybe there is a chance that other people's views are valid as well?

Once these kinds of people hear you say that your opinion doesn't align with theirs, they don't think "Okay, we have different views." They think "you're racist, ignorant and misogynistic."

I don't even think they know what those words mean because they use them incorrectly all the time.

But hey, what do I know. Like I said, I'm only 20 years old, I have no right to talk or have opinions….

WRONG!

It's unfortunate to see how millions of people in this country are creating this standard that if you don't agree with their views, then you are an evil person.

My views are valid, logical and have every right to be voiced, but that's not allowed in our nation run by people who only believe in destroying the president and his supporters… *ahem Nancy Pelosi.

No matter where I go, I have to be the silent one. I'm not allowed to share my views because then people will look at you and treat you differently. They'll label you as one thing which is hilarious and pretty ironic since these are the same people who claim you shouldn't label people and identify them as one thing. Hmmm I guess that only works when it's valid and convenient for them to use that foolish argument.

Patriotism is NOT racism.

Supporting the president is NOT racism.

Having different views than the ones being shoved down your throat by the media is NOT ignorance, it's a sign of intelligence.

I don't want to be scared anymore because I, just like everyone else, have every right given to me by the Constitution to voice my views.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
