She will change your life forever

If You Give A Girl A Stepmom
David Sobolewski @fuzzyrobot

If you give a girl a stepmom, her life will never be the same.

She will ask her questions like:

"Why don't boys like me?"

"Does my hair look okay?"

"Do these shoes match my outfit?"

"Do you think I'm smart?"

"Will you teach me how to cook?"

If you give a girl a stepmom, she will still throw fits, slam doors, and act rebellious, because she is, after all, a girl. If you give a girl a stepmom, she will learn the importance of forgiveness and honesty. She will learn how to toughen up when she's bruised, smile through the hard times, and make a mean spaghetti squash.

If you give a girl a stepmom, she will learn how to wear dresses properly, how to put on makeup and how to tell boys no with grace. She will learn how to stain fences, pull weeds, and clean a pool. If you give a girl a stepmom she will learn when and where to buy meat on sale, how to cook a proper Christmas ham, and the importance of caffeine to get you through the day.

She will learn that eggnog is the best Christmas drink, but only if shaken and served with ice. If you give a girl a stepmom, she will teach you how to buy name brand clothes on sale, and where to get the best Coke Zero in town. If you give a girl a stepmom she will learn how to wrap the perfect present, decorate the house like a HomeGoods magazine cover, and pick out wood floors because HGTV is on.

If you give a girl a stepmom, she will know she is valuable and loved because the stepmom took the little girl in as her own. The little girl will have three new siblings to tease her and laugh with her and make her feel at home.

If you give a girl a stepmom, she will grow into a determined young woman. If you give a girl a stepmom, you might not know how to thank her for everything she has done; so, instead, the little girl wrote an Odyssey article to let her know. If you give a girl a stepmom, somewhere along the way she just becomes 'mom'. So, if you give a girl a mom, her life will be better because of it.

Thanks, Karri, for being my mom when you didn't have to be. I love you.

Love,

Your daughter

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
