If You Eat Out At Restaurants, Here Are 11 Things You Shouldn't Do So You're Not "That" Person

Everyone eats out from time to time. Some eat out more than others, and that's perfectly fine. However, if you eat out, there are certain things that you shouldn't be doing. Why? Because they're rude. Please be kind, patient, and considerate to your server or your cashier. Some of us just aren't getting paid enough to deal with all the bullshit that comes with working customer service.

If you push tables together, kindly put them back to how they were before.

Sometimes it's hard if you have a big party and there are plates everywhere but if that's not the case, it doesn't hurt to take a minute out of your day/night to break them apart.

Push your chairs in when you leave.

It's really not that hard. They were pushed in when you sat down and they should be pushed in when you leave. This drives me crazy when it's a delivery driver waiting to pick up their food.

Clean up your messes.

If you're a messy eater who spills food and liquids all over the table, help your server/cashier out by wiping it up as best as you can with some napkins. If it's a casual restaurant and it's on you to put your food in the trash, don't just grab some things and leave other things on the table.

If you spill drinks on the floor or table, notify someone.

The amount of times I've cleaned up a spill after people left and they didn't tell me... Your server/cashier won't be mad. Annoyed maybe, but it's better and safer for everyone for spills to get cleaned up right away.

Tip your cashier/server.

Even if it's not a lot. Be kind. Spread the good karma.

Don't cut your server/cashier off when they are explaining something.

There have been so many times where I'm going over the menu and people cut me off to ask questions that I would've answered within the next minute or two.

If your food doesn't come out right, don't get mad.

Don't take it out on your server/cashier. They don't make your food. Don't get mad. Just politely inform your server/cashier and I promise you they will fix it.

If your food takes awhile to come out, don't take it out on your server.

In case you didn't know, it's not your server who cooks your food. If your food is taking awhile to come out, I guarantee you that either something happened in the kitchen or they're just busy. Trust me, your server/cashier are doing everything they can to make sure your food comes out as fast as possible.

Don't talk on the phone while you order.

It's rude. Tell the person on the phone to give you a minute while you order. It's really not that hard to have one conversation at a time.

Don't bash the menu if you haven't tried anything yet.

I've had people scoff at everything on the menu and say that nothing looks good, before they've even ordered or tried anything. Reserve your judgements until after you've tried something. It's one thing to not like something when you've already tried it but it's another to do so when you've never ever had the dish or been to that restaurant before.

Don't come in and state that you're "in a rush."

That's really not my problem. You should've called ahead. Okay, yes, you're in a rush but guess what? Your food still needs to cook. There were still people who placed their orders before you. The kitchen can't just make you the first priority just because you're "in a rush."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
