If Parks and Rec Characters went Greek

Leslie Knope: Alpha Delta Pi

Her ambitious spirit and love for people around us remind us of ADPis.  Forever working or taking on new projects, we know Leslie would fit right in with this group of ambitious girls.  She also adores her girlfriends as seen through Galentines day and would do anything for the people she loves.

Ann Perkins: Kappa Kappa Gamma

Leslie's best friend and so much more calm.  Anne goes through phases of self exploration but always knows what she wants.  She's calm but never compromises.  A strong willed girl who has her head on straight is a perfect reflection of Kappas.

Ben Wyatt: Pi Kappa Phi

When we first meet Ben we aren't exposed to his true nature but as seasons go on we come to recognize Ben's wit, humor, intellect, and fall in love with him.  Just like Pi Kapps, Ben is committed to his work and his projects (see Claymation and Cones of Dunshire) but also loves having fun.  He's protective and cares about those around him. He also loves calzones, and is confidant enough in in manhood to admit it.  We see him fitting in with these boys, enjoying  brotherhood and being a good friend.

Donna Meagle: Zeta Tau Alpha

Donna is a TOTAL diva. Anything glitter and fabulous, she loves.  Just like ZTAs she knows what she wants and is good at what she does (see Real-estate, Cigar Club, Treat-Yo-Self Day, ect.).  She has boys wrapped around her finger but is a true princess at heart.  Just like zeta girls she is definitely fit for a crown.

April Ludgate: Chi Omega

April is sensitive and sweet despite the dark shell she portrays to the world.  Taking on the animal control center and letting people know she loves and cares for them when she needs to.  She even scratched Larry/Gerry/Gary's back when she thought he was dying!  April also loves the skull and cross bones, hi-ho Chi-O.

Andy Dwyer: Kappa Sigma

Andy is one of the most lovable characters in the entire show.  Like the Kappa Sig boys, he doesn't worry about much.  He enjoys his life and no one has a bad word to say about him.  He's creative and loves people for the best version of themselves.  Sometimes his narrow-mindedness gets him off track but when it comes down to it, he loves his wife, he loves his friends, and he would definitely love his brotherhood.

Tom Haveford: Beta Theta Pi

Tom is way above his job at the parks department, constantly exploring his other options (Rent-A-Swag, Tom's Bistro, Entertainment Seven-Twenty, ect.).  This guy knows how to throw a party though.  Just like Betas, a party with him never goes down without an epic story.  These are the guys you love to hate and love to love, either way, at the end of the day you love them.  Good and faithful friends outside of the party scene, we see Tom wearing these letters proud.

Ron Swanson: Alpha Gamma Rho

Guns, trucks, woodworking, honesty, and mud. Which did I just define? Ron Swanson or an AGR?  Both.

Joan Calamezo: Apha Phi
Throwback to the time Joan let Ron run the whole show but required that she be on camera the whole time. This girl loves her some coconut water and the spotlight, and just like Alpha Phi's, she's hard to miss. Sweet and charming although sharp around the edges, she's a perfect blend of sassy and sweet.  You always know if an Alpha Phi is in the room, just like Joan. Everyone wants to know what she says and thinks, her opinion is valued which means despite that crazy, outgoing personality, she's got a practical side. She loves to flirt and there's no harm in that.  We can totally see Joan and her Alpha Phi possy chilling on the second floor of Coop.

Chris Treager: Pi Kappa Alpha

Chris is athletic and out of the box. His positive attitude and support is what everyone around recognizes him for. His support for Ann and their mutual decision making ability makes all girls envious. He's probably the most encouraging person you would ever come across in your life. He's attractive and kind at the same time. He makes everything seem not so bad when it's at it's absolute worst and that's a true inspiration. Dependable and confident, he reminds us of the boys of Pike. He also seems like he would own lots of lacrosse jerseys so he would fit right in with them. He is LITERALLY the greatest.

Jean-Raphio: Alpha Tau Omega

He's fabulous. Such an under appreciated character, but I can think of 100 reasons why you want to be best friends with him. Like ATOs, he knows he's awesome and he acts like it. He loves childish things and games and isn't quite ready to grow up. His best friend is Tom and the two of them together are unstoppable (again, Entertainment Seven-Twenty). He's creative and keeps us laughing. His outgoing personality and lack of respect for personal space reminds us of the ATO boys. Forever looking for something to get into and enjoying the excuse of still being kids with adult resources.

Crazy Ira and The Douche: Sigma Chi

Everyone is warned of Sigma Chi. Why? They're the bad boys, the ones that live on the edge. That's the reputation among girls at least.  These guys are fun to hang out with and Sigma Chis can throw some banging parties, you just have to be in the mood. These guys come as a package deal and just like sigma chi's are always seen together.

Jessica Wicks-Newport: Delta Zeta

This little blonde bobble head loves her some money and candy.  Her upbeat energy and 24/7 positive outlook reminds us of Delta Zetas.  Being cheery and encouraging while still being able to be direct and clear makes us feel like she would mesh well.  It was her idea to start a philanthropic branch to Sweetums so we know she would definitely be on the philanthropy committee. Although she might not fully understand the whole business, she knows what money is and how to spend it.  She wants success and just like DZ's she works hard and it shows.

Dr. Richard Nightguard: Sigma Nu

You don't ever meet him, just hear about him.  Apparently he's awesome and great just like Sigma Nu's.  I think he's that guy that sits 2 rows behind me in Organic.

Shauna Malwae-Tweep: Kappa Delta

Couldn't you just see Shauna sitting at a table on campus selling Girl Scout cookies? Us too.  She's sweet and reports what happens.  Although her news stories get under Leslie's skin sometimes she's always just doing her job.  Ben was attracted to her at one point and Leslie even made her Ann's official replacement so how could we not love her?  Just like KDs it's easy to talk to her and she makes you want to be her friend.

Jerry (Larry, Gary, Terry )Gergich: Unaffiliated

Jerry is that guy who somehow ends up with the smoking hot, top tier sorority girl.  She goes to the parties and has guys all over her at the bar but she always comes home to him. He also manages to make it into every function you've been dying to go to since Freshman year.  He's that nice guy that all her sisters love and you just don't understand how it happened.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
