Money is something that comes and goes and could affect your day to day life. Money can be your best friend, but it could also be your worst enemy. For college students, saving money is essential to make sure that you don't end up in thousands of student loan debt after college.
If I had the money, there are so many things that I would want to do. First and foremost, I would want to give my parents enough money so that they would be able to retire and enjoy the rest of their lives freely. Nothing hurts more than seeing your mom suffer from back and wrist pain every day when she comes back home from work.
Next up on my list is definitely travel.
In my opinion, there is nothing better than being able to travel the world without any financial strain or restrictions. Not only are airplane tickets placed at a hefty price, but transportation, housing, food, and other aspects of travel are also quite up there. I've lived on this Earth for a little less than 20 years, yet I've only been to four out of the 195 countries in the world. Some travel is seriously overdue.
Traveling to foreign countries is worth the investment because it allows you to experience a change in perspective, as you can see other people in the world with different cultures and lifestyles than yours. Understanding the unique cultures and embracing how other people live helps you to become more conscientious of your own privilege.
The final thing that I would want to invest in is education. Not only in my own education but also those of others.
How great is it to be able to have the financial power to cultivate the knowledge and understanding of those who are underprivileged and lack access to higher education.
This investment can be manifested in numerous ways. Providing money for research to find cures to currently incurable illnesses. Investing in the education of future doctors to receive more hands-on practice and access to advanced technology to become better doctors. Providing college students with access to free textbooks instead of making them pay more than $100 out of pocket each quarter.
How much better and more advanced would the world be if more people had access to high quality, inexpensive education?
But, in reality, these three things cost much more than what I have as a college student. Ain't it the truth when people say that money is power.
