Flower Child - (noun) : a young person, especially a hippie, rejecting conventional society and advocating love, peace, and simple, idealistic values.
When I was 9 years old, my parents got me interested in rather "old" music. They had me listening to bands like Fleetwood Mac and the Grateful Dead. As I got older, I realized that I had many of the same values and ideas as the hippies of the 1960s and 1970s did.
I began to change the way I spoke and the way that I dressed. I even made a list of every single place that I wanted to visit... many of them being very relaxing locations.
1. 710 Ashbury Street
710 Ashbury Street, otherwise known as "The Grateful Dead House," has been a must hit spot on my list since I was 10 years old. Something about being able to see the house where THE Bobby Weir lived seemed like a dream come true to me! The Grateful Dead House is full of memories for the band and I personally think it would be super amazing to visit!
2. Hippie Hill
Hippie Hill is located in San Francisco, California. I've always wanted to visit Hippie Hill because of the history that it holds. Something about being where a bunch of free spirited people once stood sounds quite relaxing.
3. The Paper Mill
The Paper Mill in Downingtown, Pennsylvania has been abandoned for years. The walls are covered in graffiti and the floors and ceilings have holes in them. You have to climb over a fence to enter (at least, that's how I got in) and walk over broken glass to get inside. Once inside, the first room you see on your right is pitch black... so you know you're already in for a thrill.
4. The Downingtown Diner
Ah yes, what a stereotypical place to visit in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. The Downingtown Diner... "Home of the Blob" was the diner that was featured in the movie "The Blob" in 1958.... making it a well-known attraction in Downingtown. This diner is great for people like me who really want to be in the past for a bit.
5. The Exton Witch House
Oh, look! Another abandoned place! If you couldn't tell from the paper mill, I really enjoy getting to explore abandoned buildings. The Exton Witch House was said to be home to a family of 4 witches in the 1800s. The family was buried on the property... leading many to believe that it's haunted.
